Join us in this role where you’ll be responsible for balancing and optimising our onshore wind assets and managing our green supply positions in the Irish power market. This is an exciting opportunity to learn and develop trading strategies to optimise revenue. You’ll work as part of a Trading Roster, actively trading in the ex-ante and intra-day power markets, 365 days per year and continuously work on improving our trading strategies and processes.

Welcome to Market Operations
You’ll be part of Short Term Trading team located in Cork, Ireland where you’ll be working with bright, dedicated and experienced colleagues, who will support you in trading our wind assets and supply positions within the ever-changing power market in Ireland. You’ll work closely with Data Analytics, IT and Operations on a daily basis, developing an in-depth understanding of our operating assets, building market knowledge and undertaking data analysis to optimise performance. As a team we collaborate daily and support each other in identifying market opportunities to create value for our portfolio. With different areas of expertise across the team, we promote continuous learning and development through knowledge sharing sessions and bespoke projects.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • trading our asset and supply positions in the wholesale electricity market under pre-defined trading strategies and business processes
  • managing the organisation’s exposure to the balancing market by rebalancing asset positions closer to delivery
  • liaising with wind farm Operations team and the wider team as necessary to facilitate efficient management of the asset positions
  • contributing to the development of all internal trading processes and tools
  • delivering and optimising trading strategies to create value for our portfolio.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a genuine interest in power markets, renewable energy, and the wider energy transition
  • have a minimum of a 2.1 honours degree in a relevant discipline, incl. mathematics, computer science, engineering, finance, or similar
  • have excellent analytical skills, a high level of numeracy, and excellent attention to detail
  • are able to digest multiple sources of information, draw sensible conclusions, and make sound decisions within limited timeframes
  • are a flexible, diligent, responsible, and reliable team player who is keen to be part of a successful trading team
  • have excellent interpersonal and both written and spoken communication skills.
