Head of Ventures and Open Innovation in the Netherlands

Imagine a future where you help drive and shape Ørsted's Innovation agenda by setting up our Innovation Hub and the frameworks to conduct Venturing and Open Innovation in the Netherlands

Join us in this role where you, together with your team, will be responsible for establishing our Innovation Hub in the Netherlands and drive venture and open innovation activities locally to execute on our ambition to further leverage innovation in the external ecosystem. You’ll help to identify and commercialise external companies with key technologies that solve internally defined problems. You’ll also drive external collaboration, ranging from enabling suppliers in adjacent industries to supporting early-stage technologies and start-ups.

You’ll be part of Ventures & Open Innovation where you, together with your colleagues, will follow an impactful and broad agenda focused on strategic innovation and business development, aiming to develop Ørsted’s future contribution beyond the scope of offshore wind. Your role in the team will be to establish our Innovation Hub in the Netherlands. You’ll join a dynamic, international, and collaborative team working in a social environment. Furthermore, you’ll work closely with our regional teams in the Netherlands to ensure alignment with local needs and activities.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • establishing our Innovation Hub in the Netherlands
  • identifying new and emerging solutions and early-stage technologies, based on current and future internal needs
  • ensuring that solutions are successfully accelerated and deployed
  • supporting the maturation of new technologies and, when viable, developing and executing test projects
  • supporting the development of commercial agreements and ensure rapid commercialisation, e.g., through venture opportunities
  • supporting with strategic engagement, e.g., strategic partnerships and exclusivity deals, capital injections from Ørsted or external funding bodies, etc.
  • ensuring a visible position in the local ecosystem by organising events, attending conferences, and networking, etc.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have extensive experience with the start-up ecosystem in the Netherlands, incl. how various stakeholders participate within it, e.g., politics, universities and research organisations, start-up support organisations, and corporations
  • have strong business acumen
  • have worked extensively with commercialising emerging technologies
  • are proactive, extroverted, and thrive when you are travelling, networking, and attending conferences
  • thrive in an international environment and can quickly create deep and meaningful relationships with your stakeholders
  • have a passion for technology, innovation, collaboration, and renewable energy.

Please note that you’re expected to do some travelling in relation to your work, as you’ll be expected to meet our local stakeholders, partners, start-ups, attend conferences, events, etc. Travel should be expected on a frequent basis within the Netherlands and potentially also to our other markets.
