Hi! We’re Ørsted Americas

Ørsted’s journey in the US started in 2015, and we now own and operate the Block Island Wind Farm – America’s first offshore wind farm. Since then, we’ve expanded our renewable energy portfolio with onshore wind, offshore wind, solar, and storage in operation or construction across the Texas, Midwest, and East Coast markets. Along with our offshore and onshore wind capabilities, our push into solar has accelerated our role as an energy storage developer and solidified our presence in the US. We’re currently building two solar arrays in Texas and Alabama, totaling nearly 700 MW.

We’re firmly committed to bringing the benefits of renewable energy to the US and creating a healthier planet for the generations to come. Join hundreds of highly skilled employees across several Ørsted offices from Massachusetts down to Texas. Together, we can fight climate change and make a positive impact.

Onshore wind, solar PV, and energy storage

By 2025, we aim to have 5 GW of onshore wind, solar, and storage capacity across the country – and we’re only just getting started.

With Massachusetts being the first state to formally adopt a comprehensive energy bill that included a mandate for state utilities to purchase offshore wind power and lease areas located off the southern coast, Boston has been an ideal location to establish our offshore business in the US.

In all of the states where we’re active, we’re committed to community investment programs that seek to rehabilitate piers, provide the necessary resources to encourage supply chain development, develop training programs for our future workforce, and support the local economy.

Our brand-new Boston office is based in the Back Bay neighborhood and features 360-degree views of the Charles River, the Public Garden, and Boston Common. Boasting a central location, the office is only a short walk from multiple lines of public transportation – including subway, commuter rail, and bus. Employees can also take advantage of our on-site gym and range of new facilities.

Rhode Island is very special to us. Our Providence office serves as one of our co-headquarters – an office which we’ve recently expanded to accommodate our rapidly growing team.

Rhode Island is home to American offshore wind – with our Block Island Wind Farm being the first offshore wind project in the nation. Through this project, we launched a brand-new industry right here on our shores and proved that renewable energy through offshore wind is viable.

The island, which was previously powered by five diesel generators burning over one million gallons of fuel every year, is now powered entirely by offshore wind.

    Our office

Located in the heart of downtown Providence, our newly renovated and expanded space is a buzzing, rapidly growing office for our skilled project teams.

The office itself is very accessible – less than a five-minute walk from Providence train station and close to a major highway and the T.F. Green International Airport.
