Student assistant - Sustainability data specialist

Imagine a future where you are part of Ørsted Bioenergy sustainability team securing that all biomass we use fulfills our market lead sustainability requirements.

Join us in this role where you’ll be part of our dedicated team responsible for data validation, processing, and calculation of sustainability data (certification type, feedstock types etc.) including CO2 calculations. You'll play a key role in our internal procedures for checking sustainability data provided by our suppliers. Further you'll work closely with our Sustainability Data Specialist on maintaining but also developing our internal systems responsible for deliver real-time output data requested both for internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll be part of a dedicated team in Bioenergy Sustainability, Fuel and Logistic where you, together with your colleagues, will play a key role in securing that documentation of all sustainability requirements are delivered by our suppliers of Biomass. Especially you'll be part of the process of collecting data and documentation as well as our internal processes for validation and control. This is the cornerstone of our internal IT- systems enabling us to maintain our chain of custody certification. Furthermore, you'll assist the Sustainability Data Specialist in the work with insightful data extraction and analysis. As a team, we work close together but with individual expertise and responsibilities. You are responsible for your own workday delivering into the continuously task and responsibilities.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • being responsible of collecting and controlling sustainability data provided by our suppliers and having the dialogue with biomass supplier regarding data and documentation
  • being responsible for upstreaming CO2 emissions- and total CO2 savings calculations
  • securing data documentation for maintaining our FSC, PEFC and SBP Chain of custody certification
  • assisting in the development of data models/our systems adapted to new requirements both internal and external i.e. new regulations, EUDR, RED III etc.
  • being part of developing our systems to continuously adapt to new requirements (like EUDR, RED III etc.) incl. translating numerous data points into commercial insights.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • need to demonstrate high attention to details both in data and systems
  • are an experienced excel-user, with interest in data handling and interested in learning
  • are a basic user of R-studio or similar programming language, e.g. Python
  • are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in the field of engineering, economics, or mathematics with a high focus on or strong interest in environmental and natural science, e.g. environmental engineering, environmental economics, natural resources or similar
  • have general understanding of the use of biomass for energy and interest in CO2 emission calculations.
