What drives me
To collaborate with team members and colleagues to solve complex project challenges and contribute to a more sustainable future for our planet.
My advice
My best advice is to follow your passion, as this will keep you motivated and help you perform at your best in the long run.
Fun fact
I always thought that I wanted to settle down and live in a specific area, but my family and I have lived in two different countries by now, and we plan to increase that number.
Title: Senior Project Lead – Offshore Foundations
Date of joining Ørsted: 2013
What I do
I am currently responsible for managing the load out, transport, and installation of the wind turbine foundations, including scour protection for the Borssele 01&02 Offshore Windfarm. More specifically, my role involves the management of the transport and installation contractor including overseeing their supply chain management as well as working with a team to develop the contractor’s standards of Quality, Health and Safety, and Environment on the project.
More recently I have assumed additional responsibilities beyond my core role as part of a specialist, cross disciplined team formed to investigate significant project related incidents.
My typical day
My role and involvement on a project will typically span the entirety of the Foundation (EPCI) project life cycle. Depending on the phase of a project, examples of my day to day activities can vary from leading the technical elements of contractual negotiations to handling technical interfaces enabling installation methods to be detailed, or from facilitation of technical workshops between contractors, to managing the contractor during the offshore installation works.
My career path
At University I undertook my undergraduate BSc in Geology & Oceanography and my post graduate MSc in Coastal Engineering in the Marine Environment, which led me straight into the offshore construction world. I started in the renewables industry in 2008 with a Dutch contractor working on several continents, latterly working as a Project Engineer on a variety of EPCI windfarm projects in the North Sea. I later joined Ørsted and worked as Foundation Installation Manager on the Racebank Project for almost 4 years before joining the Borssele Project in 2017. Having worked on both the supply side, and now the client side, I have gained a tremendous insight into how a managed but collaborative relationship can leverage the range of talent required to meet the high standards that our projects demand.
The best thing about my job
The people are undeniably the best part about my job. Whether it’s our sister departments that we co-depend upon or our contractors, working across the various phases of a project I encounter people from a huge variety of backgrounds with a wide range of roles and experiences; I feel like I learn almost every day and have the opportunity to influence great outcomes for our team and the project as a whole – all of this has enriched my professional life and made my work more efficient and impactful.

What drives me
I love working on big complex projects, and it doesn't get much more complex than what we do. We get a lot of opportunities to work on innovative solutions, and we have some of the most clever and experienced people in our industry – it doesn't get a lot better than that in my view.
My career path
I completed by Bachelors of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, and I also have a Masters of Science in Project Management. I´ve worked in large construction, on onshore wind farms, and then gained experience in offshore wind farms before moving to Ørsted.

What I do?
I am a Test Lead for Software Test Engineer department. I am the guy who helps companies to develop quality software/product. I am also the guy who bears the bad news when it comes to bugs! Any software is never 100% bug free. Imagine releasing a software without testing, good paying customers/users might face a lot of unwanted situations using the software/product which might impact its features and user friendliness. Imagine the frustration if you are amongst one of those customers/users. That’s where the Software Test Engineers step in; to reduce this kind of situations, ultimately to ensure things running smoothly.
What excites me about my work?
My work is like finding a needle in a haystack. It is also like a box of chocolate. You will never know what will pop up! It’s always full of surprises! It’s not always exciting since most of the time it involves repetitive tasks which can be quite tiring. However occasionally, I break things and that is awesome! I get to explore new territories and learn from it. The fun starts again!
As the bearer of bad news, I learn how to explain things better and make others understand easily and democratically.
Most importantly at the end of the day, to know that I contributed to make things working well is such a great satisfaction.
What are the greatest lessons I have learned at Ørsted?
The concept of “egalitarian”, all as equal! The opportunity to mingle around with just anyone from different departments/cultures/positions.
To respect each other’s views as we are part of a big organization which comes from different countries/cultures/backgrounds
What element of the KUL office culture that you would proudly promote to your peers / friends in other Orsted locations?
It is the passion and proudness this site have. You can feel it right away when you enter the office. It is difficult to describe, you have to experience this yourself. A good example is the during the lockdown, we managed to keep our productivity and motivation high. And we had and still have a lot of fun. People are happy to work for Ørsted here in KL. Very few have left Ørsted to join other companies during the last two years. Our turn over and employee satisfaction is quite ok 😊 And of course our ambition is to improve it to even better.
What are some of the qualities that you value as a leader?
Honest, empowerment, caring & open culture where we can feel safe to speak up.
How much contribution do you think the office in Kuala Lumpur does to the Group level?
A lot. Our KPI´s shows we are doing good. But that’s only a part of the story. We are contributing with big talent pool, diversity, cost, supporting both APAC and Europe time zone, etc.. On the talent part we have access to a big talent pool, as we not only recruit in Malaysia, but in South east Asia as well. We are quite diversit when it comes to nationalities. I think we have around 18 different nationalities at KL office today.
Diversity and inclusion are the pillars of Orsted, how do you ensure that this continues to be enforced in the coming future?
As mentioned we are quite diverse on nationality and religion, which is good. But we still need to improve our diversity in other areas, as for example Gender and age. We as leaders need to put the right effort to achieve this diversity at our location. We are already working on different initiatives to make our office attractive for female candidates. And we can still do more. We are also working on initiatives to support the inclusiveness in our office. So everyone can feel they are a part of Ørsted regardless their nationality, gender, religion, age, education level etc..

Title: Wind Turbine Tech 2
Business Unit: Operations
What I do
I work as an offshore wind turbine technician, performing maintenance on Ørsted’s wind farms in the United States. I ensure that the turbines’ mechanical and electrical systems are functioning properly, preventing equipment failure and performing both routine and emergency repairs.
What drives me
The view! I started my career as an onshore wind turbine technician in the South and Midwest, and always thought the view was impressive. But then I moved offshore – and it’s even better. You’re miles out to sea, with nothing but rolling waves in all directions. It’s just an unbeatable experience.
My career path
It started with summer camp, where I worked a high ropes course. I’ve always loved working with my hands and climbing way up high. Knowing this, my dad suggested I check out the wind industry, which was looking to hire technicians. I joined a one-year training program at Northern Maine Community College, and was immediately hired as an onshore wind turbine technician. Then in 2022, I joined Ørsted and took my skills offshore.
My advice
Choose a job that makes you feel good every day, where you’re surrounded by people who share your enthusiasm for what you do. Every time I repair a turbine, I’m moving the U.S. toward a cleaner environment, and I know my colleagues feel the same. There’s enormous passion for clean energy at Ørsted, and a real sense that we’re doing important work for the planet.

We truly care about getting the results and are extremely passionate about what we do. The team has strong leadership and good management that has led to excellent working relationships. I’ve completed over 10 different roles in my previous employment, but this has been the most rewarding.

I also manage complex EU tender processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and the best outcome for our organisation.
In a typical week, I review and prioritise my sourcing activities to address the needs. I hold meetings with stakeholders to discuss requirements and align sourcing strategies, which are followed by evaluating vendor proposals to ensure they meet our requirements and standards. I focus on delivering best commercials, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with company policies and EU tender regulations.
And of course, when working at full speed, I remind myself that coffee is my best co-worker, always keeping me on my toes! Striking a good work-life balance is key, so I make sure to carve out time for relaxation and family because we all know that a well-rested mind is the best tool for negotiation.

By passing on power to employees, the organisation builds trust and collaboration, leading to increased engagement and retention. Such a culture reduces stress and improves overall well-being, as employees feel valued and supported. Ultimately, this approach strengthens the company's reputation as an ethical and desirable workplace, attracting top talents and partners.
Why is contributing to creating a world that runs entirely on green energy important to you?

In my work, I’m dedicated to advancing sustainability, a commitment that also shapes my personal life through environmentally conscious choices.
What are your responsibilities in your role and what does a typical workweek look like for you?
My typical workweek is an untypical workweek. There’s always something new and unforeseeable, and I love that! It’s dynamic, colourful, and never boring. I engage with a lot of people – suppliers, colleagues, and industry peers. While we have concrete targets, much of my time is also spent preparing sourcing events and driving the commercial dialogue around decarbonisation.
The green transition is our top priority, but what excites me most is how we can shape it to be as sustainable and impactful as possible. As an industry, we are offtakers of key materials –often hard-to-abate materials with significant carbon footprints – but we also have the ability to drive change by putting the right incentives in place. I enjoy that it’s not a zero-sum game; rather, it’s a collaborative effort. In green procurement, we’re in a unique position to work with our suppliers and industry peers in forums such as the First Movers Coalition (FMC) Commitment by the World Economic Forum and the Climate Group. Together, we’re turning ambitious climate goals into tangible action.
How has being part of Ørsted helped you develop and grow your talent?
Working at Ørsted has allowed me to build deep expertise in hard-to-abate sectors and the key components we procure. It’s a place where I’m constantly learning – not just from my work but from the talented people around me.

Ørsted is a workplace that truly recognises and supports me, not just professionally, but as a person. Here, I’ve had the opportunity to grow in my role while also pursuing my personal goals and handling personal setbacks. For example, I recently trained for and completed a Norwegian cross-country skiing race – something that meant a lot to me. My manager backed me up, giving me the space and support to make it happen.
Even in turbulent times, at its core, Ørsted still remains Ørsome to me. That’s largely thanks to my colleagues, who make every day rewarding and meaningful.
Why is contributing to creating a world that runs entirely on green energy important to you?
I truly believe that the green transition will be one of the most decisive factors in determining how severe climate change becomes. Working for a company that’s almost entirely focused on expanding fossil fuel-free energy is both humbling and inspiring.
What are your responsibilities in your role and what does a typical workweek look like for you?
My primary responsibility is to lead a team of data specialists, data engineers, and dashboard developers in designing and maintaining scalable data management workflows, data pipelines, and reporting solutions. This involves ensuring data availability, maintaining high standards of data quality, and ensuring data compliance and security, while fostering a data-driven culture within the organisation.
Each week, I begin by facilitating team planning sessions and addressing any business dependencies or challenges. In the middle of the week, I collaborate with my team members to resolve data-related issues and identify opportunities for optimising data management processes. By the end of the week, I work with stakeholders to explore continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring they have access to reliable, actionable data and reports that drive better decision-making and enhance operational efficiency.

Witnessing the effects of climate change firsthand has only strengthened my determination to advance renewable energy solutions that minimise carbon emissions and foster a more sustainable planet. At Ørsted, we work towards achieving net-zero emissions across our entire value chain by 2040, a goal that relies heavily on strong collaboration across the supply chain. In my role, I support this mission by providing procurement teams with critical data on key suppliers' performance, including their environmental and sustainability efforts, allowing them to manage supplier relationships effectively. Knowing that my contributions are helping create a cleaner, more sustainable world gives me a deep sense of purpose and motivation every day.

One of the aspects I personally appreciate most about working at Ørsted is the collaborative atmosphere. I’ve found people to be friendly and speaking without unnecessary corporate jargon. More importantly, we support each other in getting better rather than competing. That, along with a culture of continuous learning, is invaluable to me.
Why is contributing to creating a world that runs entirely on green energy important to you?
With energy security and sovereignty becoming more important today, I draw a lot of meaning from directly contributing to a more robust and a greener global energy industry.

What do you especially value about the Ørsted culture and team you’re part of?
In our team, we have more than eight different nationalities, working across three different locations. The cultural diversity brings so many different perspectives and ideas, not only professionally, but also socially and in the everyday life at the office.
Why is contributing to creating a world that runs entirely on green energy important to you?
There's something about renewables that just makes good sense. Contributing to renewable energy projects feels inherently right, as it involves impactful engineering that accelerates the transition to green energy, making a real-world difference.
What are your responsibilities in your role and what does a typical workweek look like for you?
I work as Lead Procurement Manager, leading a team of highly skilled contract managers working on GOW03 and BKR03 projects in the construction phase. Together we’re responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with contracts, mitigating contract risks, managing obligations as well as negotiating variations and disputes to ensure the projects are progressing as planned and within budget.
My daily work involves organising the team to focus on activities that deliver both short-term and long-term gains. Given the dynamics of the project execution phase and construction activities, every individual week can bring its own variety of operational and tactical tasks. At the strategic level, we’re committed to continuous improvement, optimising ways of working, and implementing risk management strategies to identify potential issues early and mitigate them effectively.
How has being part of Ørsted helped you develop and grow your talent?
Through my nine-year career at Ørsted, I’ve always had endless opportunities to learn and grow professionally by enhancing both hard and soft skills. It’s not only owing to training provided, it’s also mainly due to opportunities to embed learning in daily work, due to a structured feedback culture at Ørsted, networking, and mentorship programmes.
At Ørsted, I’ve worked on seven international projects and collaborated with colleagues and suppliers representing more than 20 nationalities, which has also given me great cultural awareness and unique work experience.
What do you especially value about the Ørsted culture and team you’re part of?
I can definitely say that such values as inclusion, trust, passion, belonging, and authenticity create a positive and safe work environment in the project team where I currently work. We’re open and honest, we care about each other, accept and bring together our differences, and we’re enthusiastic about what we do to achieve common goals.
Why is contributing to creating a world that runs entirely on green energy important to you?
I’m thrilled to be part of the transformative journey in the energy sector and work in the wind power industry. It’s always with pride when I share that I work for a green energy company, which is making a tangible positive impact on our planet. It’s inspiring and rewarding to realise that my day-to-day work contributes to something beneficial for everyone – a better environment, longer and healthier lives, and a brighter future.
Job title: Process Excellence Business Partners
Business unit: EPCO & IT
What I do
I lead a team of 8 process excellence specialists based in Denmark, UK, and Poland. Our role is to support our colleagues across the business with creation, implementation, and improvement of their processes in our integrated management system, ‘way we work’. We also have a role in ensuring the content in the management system is suitable to meet the requirements of the various ISO certifications we hold, and we lead the annual Management Review process to assess the ongoing suitability of the system, suggesting improvements where necessary.
What’s a typical day for you?
My daily work is primarily focused on people leadership tasks – enabling my team to deliver on their tasks and supporting their development and growth. I’m not co-located with any members of my team, so my days are spent working from home on Teams calls, conducting 1:1 talks and team check-ins to discuss progress on our various activities and supporting where guidance is needed.
We assist all areas of the organisation with their processes and as we try to create standardised processes across countries and technologies there is a lot of dialogue, communication and alignment needed with our stakeholders from various departments. Wherever possible I try to empower my team to lead these conversations but there are occasions where I find myself in a meeting or a workshop getting more “hands-on” with creating a process or planning an improvement project.
What does your career path look like?
I started my career in Ørsted as an on-site health and safety advisor for our operations sites and have been working with renewables and quality, health, safety, and environment (QHSE) for several years. Before that, I had a varied career, working in a restaurant, a gym, a bank and even a betting shop. It might seem like these jobs have no correlation with what I do now, but actually a lot of what I learned turned out to be transferable skills that I still use today.
What’s the best thing about your job?
I love my role as a people leader and see it as a real privilege to support my team and influence how they feel about coming to work every day. Ørsted is a company that truly supports development, so I’ve tried out a variety of roles. From starting on site, I moved into a specialist back-office role before switching to a project management role. I wanted to explore people leadership and was given the opportunity to combine it with a topic I was already familiar with – that’s how I ended up in my current role.
Do you have any insights for someone wanting to get into a similar career?
It’s important to find a career and a role that you’re passionate about, which suits your personality and allows you to be yourself and make the best use of your skills. If you’re interested in QHSE, explore the different industries and disciplines. Also, consider courses which will increase your knowledge, e.g. auditing and incident investigation are universally transferrable skills. Project management and change management skills are always in demand. Whatever you do, make sure you give it your all and enjoy it. Be enthusiastic and open to change and eager to explore new ideas.

Every day in the recycling world is a learning day, I have been very fortunate that my career has taken me to many different parts of the world where I have seen lots of different recycling technologies.
