Ørsted Names Amy Ellis Stakeholder Relations Manager in New York

New York, NY — Ørsted, a global leader in clean energy, has appointed Amy Ellis as Stakeholder Relations Manager in New York State.

In her new role, Ellis will engage with local officials and communities as Ørsted advances its Sunrise Wind project, operates South Fork Wind, and continues investing in New York’s offshore wind supply chain and workforce.

Ellis brings over a decade of experience in local government, having held several roles with the Suffolk County Legislature, including Clerk and Chief of Staff for a local elected official. She later worked at Eversource Energy, helping lead stakeholder relations for South Fork Wind and Sunrise Wind.

“Amy’s experience working closely with local leaders on Long Island makes her a perfect fit to lead our stakeholder engagement in New York,” said Brady Walker, Head of Government Affairs and Strategy at Ørsted Americas. “Her work will help ensure all voices are heard and represented as we partner with New York to achieve its energy goals and build out this new American energy industry.”

New York is a national offshore wind leader, with a goal of deploying 9,000 megawatts of offshore wind power by 2035. Ørsted’s South Fork Wind is the nation’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in operation, powering 70,000 Long Island homes and businesses today. Its Sunrise Wind project, which began onshore construction this summer, will power nearly 600,000 homes and businesses in the state.

Ellis’s new role includes an appointment to the Long Island Association Board and Stony Brook University’s AERTC Board.

“After working closely with Ørsted as part of my role overseeing Government Affairs and Community Relations for Offshore Wind at Eversource, it is a tremendous honor to be joining the team full time and continuing to work on these historic projects for New York,” says Ellis.
