Offshore wind power

We are building the next great American industry with offshore wind projects that will:

  • Help the U.S. meet its growing energy demand
  • Create well-paying, accessible jobs
  • Grow local and regional economies
  • Support new manufacturing and infrastructure

Our growing portfolio of offshore wind farms will produce enough clean energy to power over 2 million American homes.

Offshore wind projects

We proudly own and operate America’s first offshore wind project, the Block Island Wind Farm off the coast of Rhode Island, as well as New York’s first offshore wind farm, South Fork Wind. Our mission is to drive the growth of domestic energy production through offshore wind while delivering lasting benefits to communities nationwide.
Connecticut
  • Revolution Wind
Revolution Wind is Rhode Island and Connecticut’s first utility-scale offshore wind farm and a partnership between Ørsted, a global clean energy leader, and Global Infrastructure Partners’ Skyborn Renewables. Revolution Wind is America’s first multi-state offshore wind farm and will generate enough clean energy to power 350,000 Rhode Island and Connecticut homes when it enters operation in 2026.
Maryland
  • Skipjack Wind
Skipjack Wind will be located 20 miles off the coast of the Delmarva peninsula. The project will generate 1GW of offshore wind energy, which is enough to power more than 300,000 homes.
New Jersey
  • Ocean Wind 1
Following a decision by its Board of Directors, Ørsted will cease development of the Ocean Wind 1 and Ocean Wind 2 projects.
  • Ocean Wind 2
Following a decision by its Board of Directors, Ørsted will cease development of the Ocean Wind 1 and Ocean Wind 2 projects.
New York
  • South Fork Wind
South Fork Wind is America’s first utility-scale offshore wind farm and a partnership between Ørsted, a global clean energy leader, and Global Infrastructure Partners’ Skyborn Renewables. South Fork Wind is New York’s first offshore wind farm, generating enough renewable energy to power approximately 70,000 Long Island homes.
  • Sunrise Wind
Sunrise Wind will be located more than 30 miles east of Montauk Point. The project will generate approximately 924 megawatts of offshore wind energy, which is enough to power nearly 600,000 homes. Sunrise Wind is expected to begin commercial operations in late 2026.
Rhode Island
  • Block Island Wind Farm
Block Island Wind Farm is located roughly three miles southeast of Block Island, Rhode Island. The project generates 30 megawatts of offshore wind energy which powers 17,000 homes. Block Island Wind Farm began commercial operations in December 2016.
